The I-294 Highway is located on the mid-eastern region of the map, in between Chicago and Illemont and hugs the western border of Illinois. The majority of the highway is in the United States of Aurum with a portion being in the Padaic States.

History

The I-294 Highway was approved in 1958 by the Aurum Federal Highway Administration and began construction in 1959. The first segments were built near the farming village of Elk Grove. It expanded to reach the I-290 highway to the south and the Aurum-Padaic border to the north. Construction was completed in May of 1965 and the highway was open to the public. Various rural towns such as Elk Grove and Dundee saw great population booms and became industrialized. In 1966 I-294 was officially added to the Aurum Strategic Highway Network (STRAHNET). The most recent changes to the highway were the highway start/end interchange renovations. The northern interchange was completed in April 2020 and the southern interchange is still under construction and faces delays due to budget issues. Both upgrades are built by FiliBuilds Inc. A future southern extension is still being researched by a panel under the Aurum Department of Transportation, however it will likely not be approved due to a lack of funding.
