Montreux is a town in the Survival 1.14 map. It's one of the first settlements in the world, created two days after it became available to the public.

History

Montreux was founded on 28 July 2019, by its first and current mayor, Poctivy_Ani. At that time, the only structure was a hut mostly carved into a hill located within a small peninsula, but after three days of expansion around the land-form it became a four-story multi-purpose house including an attic, two vendor tables, one of which is currently occupied by the town's sole villager, a toolsmith, a basement and its enchantment room, which slightly protrudes to the south of the plot, located directly under the town square. Along with the hut under the house, there's a makeshift farm that grows up to thirty wheat, six beetroot and potatoes, four pumpkins, melons and carrots, sixteen cocoa beans, and twenty sweet berries. Currently, the town is seeing the construction of three projects: a makeshift town hall, four townhouses, and a rail station 50 meters north-west of the peninsula, with it's half-finished western rail precisely built on-top of X: 0, or the y-axis.

Geography

Montreux is located 4,000 meters south of 0,0 and it's highest elevation is 80 meters. An elevated rail is currently being constructed to connect the town with sspawn, but any other means of transportation is limited to sailing from the town's west, or traveling on foot or on horseback from all other directions. The town center is situated in a plains biome, located on a small peninsula surrounded by a tributary that is divided from the ocean by a slim tract of land. To the north and east is a desert and the savanna while the plains and a swamp is located to the west and to the south. Most of the land outside the vicinity of the peninsula is untouched, but has been lit with torches for the purpose of minimizing the dangers of hostile mobs. The claims of Montreux include the peninsula and the plains surrounding the land-form. The town is bordered by the desert to the north, the savanna to the east, and the ocean and the drained riverbed to the north-west and to the south respectively. Although the boundaries of the town are defined by the ladder, it's advisable to refrain from building less than 200 meters away from these boundaries as Montreux has a high potential of expanding from the peninsula to its borders.
