United Republic

Overview

The United Republic is a nation situated around the PCB creative map. The nation is made up of six constituent states; Asperia, Balboa, Libratia, Newton, Norwood and Hub. The nation of the United Republic was founded by incumbent President _Travis on the 18th of November 2018. The United Republic is a parliamentary federal republic, with a President as it's head of state and a Prime Minister as head of government. Within the United Republic are semi-autonomous states lead usually by a premier or governor. The powers of the Federal government are generally limited to advising, planning and guidance; with primary power and control with state governments.

Structure and Organisation

The United Republic is lead by an appointed President, who is in control of executive power, states and justice. The President appoints a Prime Minister who acts as an advisor. The President may also appoint other citizens of the United Republic to act as cabinet members, having a say in how the government is run.

States

The United Republic consists of six semi-autonomous states. The role of states is to provide a local authority for members to control the construction of their cities/projects without the interference of the Federal Government,

Asperia

Asperia was the fourth state to be incorporated. The state contains the TWT-Base and Little_Asperia. Asperia is the only state to have a city outside of PCB and is currently the only state with a military base in the United Republic. It is controlled by the Minister President Cavemaker. A notable building is the TWT-Base which holds an old temple of Batchmax Dugrade. The state Asperia, TWT and Asperia are known for their small flags.

Balboa

Balboa state was founded by marshy_88 and consists of two cities, Marshia and Beechwood. Beechwood is one of the largest cities in the United Republic, and is home to the Admiralty of the United Republic navy, and Cavemaker Naval Base.

Norwood

Norwood State was the first state to be incorporated. The state contains the capital city of Norwood, government offices and legislature. It is also home to the official residence of the Prime Minister. The government of Norwood consists of an elected house of representatives, and an appointed governor who is elected by the house. The first and current governor is _Travis, who is also the President of The United Republic. Notable buildings include; the Parliament Building, Government Office and the Peace Museum.

Newton

Newton State was the third state to be incorporated. The state contains the city of Newton and the town Ellington. Notable buildings in Newton include; Newton Tower, Newton Regional Hospital, and the Presidential residence in Ellington.

Formation of the Padaic Republic

The Withdrawl of Espen and Initial Founding

Shortly after the creation of Espen State, the Federal government underwent a large-scale streamline and reformation of the States of the United Republic. One of the reforms drafted was the dissolution of Espen state and it's merge with Usonia State. This reform was met with disagreement by Espen Governor CGH_2005. Seizing the opportunity, CGH_2005 decided that it would be a good time to form his own nation, the state of Espen officially split from the United Republic on the 16 July 2019. Initial relations between the United Republic and the newly formed Padaic Republic were considered peaceful and friendly.

The Withdrawl of Hylan

Shortly after the formation of the Padaic Republic, the state of Hylan withdrew from the United Republic to join the Padaic Republic. This was met with disdain from the Federal Government, and built upon existing and growing tensions with the state of Usonia and the Padaic Republic. This can be considered the point at which relations between the United Republic and the Padaic Republic went downhill. For a short period following this, the United Republic and the Padaic Republic were on more negative terms, however, there was no serious divide.

The Southern Marshia Dispute

In an effort to expand the United Republic navy, President _Travis commissioned the construction of Cavemaker naval base on the southern edge of the town of Marshia. President _Travis sought permission from marshy_88, who he considered the owner of Marshia to construct the base in that area. This permission was granted. Less than 24 hours later however, a message and request were sent from CGH_2005 claiming the land as his own and demanding the removal of the base. Following this President _Travis and CGH_2005 undertook negotiations to allow the continued construction of the base. During the course of these negotiations, the State of Usonia was officially withdrawn from the United Republic. By the end, CGH_2005 agreed to cede some of his claim to marshy_88 and _Travis on the condition that an embassy was to be built in Illemont by the 18th of August 2019. The embassy was constructed, and this was considered to be the end of matters. Following the withdrawal of Usonia, the city of Beechwood joined the newly formed state of Balboa, run by marshy_88.

The Transfer of Marshia

marshy_88, mayor of Marshia, claimed the city as his own and was adamant that it was placed under the control of the United Republic. Because of this request, President _Travis of the United Republic and President CGH_2005 of the Padaic Republic undertook bilateral talks to negotiate the transfer. The first treaty/agreement for this was presented by CGH_2005 on 8 August 2019. The terms of this were the following:

1. The President Travis Center [a United Republic defence force office constructed by _Travis near the border with Porty Hylan in Beechwood] must not be visible from the streets of Port Hylan.
2. The Phantom [Cavemaker] Naval Base must be removed, and/or have ownership transferred to the Padaics.
3. The Marshia Warp Hall, mist keep CGH_2005 as the founder of Marshia. However, within the United Republic, Marshy may act as Governor.
4. CGH_2005 must be allowed to continue to build in the City of Marshia.
5. The United Republic may not be allowed to build anything military around Port Hylan, Usonia, or Marshia.
6. The Padaic Republic-Usonia Border must remain open.
7. Travis must not alter builds by CGH_2005 without permission.

This agreement was quickly denied by President _Travis, as he felt that it was one-sided, targeted the Presidency. He especially took issue to the moving of the President Travis Centre and the demand that the United Republic cannot expand it's military. A number of attempted agreements following this failed. However a few days later, an informal agreement was decided upon, transferring Marshia to the United Republic on the condition that the Padaic Republic or the United Republic do not build more than 4 naval vessels in the Usonian Peninsula Area, and that the border was to be kept opening. This was agreed to by both sides, and is considered the last dispute.

Current Relations and the Union Bridge

Following this, as a sign of goodwill, President _Travis undertook the construction of the Union Bridge, connecting the United Republic at Beechwood and the Padaic Republic by road. This was agreed to by both sides, and the bridge was completed on the 15th of August 2019. Following this, relations between the United Republic and the Padaic Republic are considered friendly. The embassy in Illemont was completed and remains open.

Parliament House

Parliament House is the seat of the Federal Government located in the city of Norwood, NW. The building is a neo-gothic style building, slowly constructed and altered since 2018. The building is home to the United Republic House of Representatives and Senate.
