In 1736, a group of settlers from Montreal and Ottawa found land near Lake Champlain in what is current day Vermont. After the United States was born in 1776, the settlers were rushed closer to the border of Quebec, but did not get attention even after it's population reached 4000 in 1793. The settlement was then named Port Landing, after the name of a fort. In 1827 a inferno erupted, burning down 20 of the 120 buildings. killing 320. The settlement was renamed to Portland in 1853, and was officially crowned as a city and became independent from British run Canada, with the population reaching 19,388.

In 1904, Portland entered a civil war after accusations of rigged elections arose. East Portland was supported by Canada and the United States, with West Portland declaring independence. On Feburary 23, 1806, East Portland developed a strong explosive, and a target was chosen. This was used to end the war quickly against West Portland.

Portland developed an atomic bomb in 1956. At this time, the population was at 670,000. On May 5th, 1967, during the Expo 67 in Montreal, the Canadian Prime Minister Lester B Pearson was shot in head thrice by Portland extremist Marc De Champ. Soon after, a wall was built around Portland, causing what was christened as Neo-Canada to declare independence on June 1st 1967. In 1993 the United States invaded Mexico in an nuclear war, causing the Cold War to reach it's peak, with the Soviet Union being dissolved.  

1997: Neo-Canada invades a Dying United States, taking Maine, Northeast Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Upstate New York. as well as Michigan.

2001: shortly after 9/11 Britain accuses Scotland of corruption and nukes are sent across the border.

2007: the USSR invades china and turkey, millions are dead and the middle east unites as one. the population is now 1.5 Million

2011: a package explodes in London releasing Anthrax across the city, hundred of thousands die and the attack is blamed on the United States.

2013: The United states goes into a civil war, the east vs the west, the war goes nuclear and the population drastically goes down.

2014: The United states has officially collapsed, Lucite takes control. the population is now at 1.74 Million

2015: Portland Researchers find a cure for Cancer, HIV, AIDS and Alzheimer's Disease  

Portland has 17 Districts, the way the districts are layed out are by the closest major intersection, i.e Downtown is along Yonge St. However, some districts are not connected to the actual city. Some sub-cities include: Diamond Coast, Champlain Heights, and Angels Bay. all of which will have their own articles later on.  

Portland has a fully working Metro system, consisting of 18 Stations. as well as a regional rail, an RER (Regional Express Rail), Streetcar services, and a bus system, the Portland airport is still under construction,

The Metro consists of 7 Lines: The Glenheim Line, The Berri Line, The Bloor Line, The Rosedale LRT Line, the Canada Line, The Olympic Line, and the RER (Park Line). Major Terminal Stations are: City Central, Downtown, and Market Stations. The Metro is open from 5 AM to 1 AM on weekdays and from 11 AM to 7 PM On Weekends. an estimated 600,000 people travel on the metro every day, making it the most used way of transit in the city.
